What Is “Legacy DSP” and Should I Worry About it?

Last updated: July 2025

What’s Going On?

Amazon recently shut down something called the “Legacy DSP” system. You may see mentions of it in forums or conversations about Amazon Ads, so here’s what it means—and whether it affects you.

Do I Use It?

Probably not.

Legacy DSP was mainly used by big brands and advertising agencies that run large-scale display ads across Amazon, Fire TV, and even other websites. It’s a behind-the-scenes system used by marketing professionals—not authors running Sponsored Products or uploading ads manually.

If you’re using Amazon Ads through the normal dashboard and uploading your CSV reports to AHS, you’re not using Legacy DSP.

Why Are People Talking About It?

Because Amazon retired the Legacy DSP system on June 30, 2025. Some third-party tools and advertisers had to switch to a newer system, and that transition has created some confusion in advertising circles.

Does This Affect My Ads or AHS?

Nope—nothing changes for you.

  • You can still run Amazon Ads as usual.

  • You can still download your CSV reports and upload them to AHS.

  • You don’t need to take any action.

If you’re working with an agency that manages your ads and they mention DSP issues, it’s worth asking if they’ve made the switch to Amazon’s new system.
